The Joy or Romance Everywhere

Hi all!  I’m so excited to be involved with the Read a Romance Month…and believe me, I WickedEdgedefinitely see the joy of romance.  My parents have been married for nearly fifty years, and my husband and I are going on eighteen years this December.  Life gets in the way a lot, but romance is all around us, right?  So I’m trying to get organized these days, and I’ve been creating a lot of lists.  I thought it’d be fun to list five great romantic moments in film.

Casablanca:  I love the scene where Rick Blaine meets back up with Ilsa, and she asks him if he remembers the day the Germans marched into France.  He says that of course he remembers…”The Germans wore gray, you wore blue.”  That makes me sigh every time.

When Harry Met Sally: The ending where Harry says he loves her, and she complains about his timing, and he says, “I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”

The Last of the Mohicans:  When Hawkeye has to leave Cora and he says:  “You stay wicked ridealive, no matter what occurs! I will find you. No matter how long it takes, no matter how far, I will find you.”

Lord of the Rings:  When Arwen says, “I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone. I choose a mortal life.”

The Princess Bride:  When Wesley and Buttercup meet back up, and Wesley says, “Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.”

One of my all time favorite authors is Jennifer Apodaca  (aka Jennifer Lyons)

Keep an eye out for Debra Elise ( ) who has her first book, Saving Maverick, coming out in November.

Questions for the Author:

Tell us about a moment in your life when you experienced sheer joy. rising assets at lake.jpg

A moment in my life when I experienced joy would be when I went jet skiing with our
son the other day.  The day was sunny and the lake sparkled, and we took the jet skis out and just had fun.  We went early morning and had the lake to ourselves, and we decided to race.  It was joyous, and for a moment, I was a kid again.

Tell us about a place that brings you joy, or is attached to a memory of joy.view

A place that brings me joy is a mountain close to where I live.  I used to go huckleberry picking with my grandparents there when they were alive, and it brings back so many good memories that joy is all around that mountain.

Tell us about a sound that brings you joy.

A sound that brings me joy is my daughter singing.  She has a wonderful voice, and she likes to change the rhythm of popular songs, and that makes me happy.

What recent book have you read that brought you joy. (Or a book you read in your life that brought you so much joy you’ve never forgotten it.) Why?

I recently read a bunch of papers I found in my grandma’s old trunk, and one of them contained a diary of one of her ancestors, a girl who traveled in a covered wagon across the country.  The times were hard, but somehow, I could hear her voice and it seemed familiar. I think I felt joy at realizing how tied we are to the past.

And for fun, the joy of choice ~

Pick your Chris! Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, Chris Pratt, Chris Rock, Chris Evans or Christopher Plummer (circ. 1964 aka Capt. Von Trapp?) – trying for a little diversity! ;o)

My Chris would have to be Chris Pratt.  Yeah, he’s something to look at, but beyond that, he’s a really good guy with a great sense of humor.
