Two Smooshy Romantics Who #LoveRomance
Nina: I #LoveRomance in movies. I’m not afraid to see a film by myself, in fact, I prefer it. I have my staples that I bring – tissues, a Frappuccino and Reese’s Pieces. It makes for an enjoyable experience. I sit in the middle and prepare myself for a good cry, laugh and swoon. I remember seeing Letters to Juliet by myself and I loved it so much I paid for another ticket. Same with Never Been Kissed when it released ages ago.
I especially love when a romantic novel has been translated to television or movie screen. There’s something satisfying (and sometimes frustrating) with how novels are adapted. Everyone has strong opinions, especially when they’re wildly popular. I find though that the movies on The Hallmark Channel around Christmas are a personal favorite. Even though they seem to use the same cache of actor/actress for many of the films, they’re so enjoyable. I look forward to them every year. My son (9) is a smooshy romantic too and they’re particularly great because they’re really family friendly.
Alice: I agree with Nina, I love to see movies by myself. I go in the middle of the week in the middle of the day when the place is empty. I put my feet up, eat a hot dog, and lose myself in a great rom/com. I still love to watch Before Sunrise with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, the entire series in fact, all 3 films are amazing. I also prefer to go see these movies alone because if there are tears, I like to cry alone. I made the mistake of going with Christina Lauren to see The Fault in Our Stars without having read the book, and had no idea how it ended! Snot sobbing doesn’t even cover it…
Alice Clayton & Nina Bocci recommend:
Sylvain Reynard’s (at Amazon) – books have a way of transporting me to wherever they’re set. The locations almost become another character in the books and I love that.
Smart, witty and snappy banter make her books a go-to for me. Plus they’re full of all the swoons.
I’ve loved Jennifer Probst books from the very first page and she never, ever fails to hook me with her alpha males and smart and relatable females.

Questions for the Author:
Tell us about a moment in your life when you felt romance surrounding you.
Nina: I have this odd luck when it comes to being witness to marriage proposals. They’re not spontaneous of course, but these well-planned events that I happen to stumble upon. I’ve seen at least ten in the past few years. It’s amazing to witness first-hand the sheer joy. As an aside, I knew when and where Alice was getting engaged before she did.
Alice: She did, which I later yelled at Mr. Alice about. I have to tell you, I’m writing this while I’m on vacation in France and literally just today I was on the Metro with this gorgeous young couple, they couldn’t have been more than 22 or 23 years old, and they were stunning. And so totally in love. And you could just tell, watching them give each other kiss after dreamy kiss, surrounded by strangers on the train, they were totally going to go home and bang the ever loving shit out of each other…
Tell us about someone special in your life (other than your partner) with whom you share romance.
Nina: My mom. I’m sure it sounds odd but she’s been my best friend my whole life and I have no secrets from her. She’s known about every crush, every swoon and I give her books all the time. She enjoys mystery with her romance so she’s a big fan of the JD Robb books.
Alice: I have a friend who never reads romance, only every once in awhile will she read something I think is really special and then she goes in full heart. I love watching her experience the oohs and aahs of a really great romance
Do you have a place in the world or a sound that you equate with romance?
Nina: Italy. Anywhere, everywhere, all of it. I just love it and if I could, I’d live there in a heartbeat.
Alice: There’s something really special about Salzburg, Austria. I visited there in November a few years ago, and it was cold and dark and everything inside was so cozy and candlelit and I just fell in love.
Who is your (or a) favorite romantic couple?
Nina: Griffin & Sabine. They’re from a series of epistolary novels from Nick Bantock that I just LOVE. They’re gorgeous and you need them in print. An ebook would just never work.
Alice: 100% Barrons and Mac from The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. I think non traditional couples are the best.
Nina: Oh, boy, mine is a tie because I agree on Mac and Barrons. Epic swoonage.
Tell us about your dream date.
Nina: I like simple dates. A park, a museum, some street food and a walk. Anything that’s easy but fun.
Alice: I’m a homebody so I love a movie on the couch

NINA BOCCI is a novelist, publicist, eternal optimist, unabashed lipgloss enthusiast, constant apologist, and a hopeless romanticist. She has too many college degrees that she’s not using, and a Lego addiction that she blames on her son.
ALICE CLAYTON worked in the cosmetics industry for over a decade before picking up a pen (read laptop). She enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up, and finally convinced her long-time boyfriend to marry her. And she just got her Bernese Mountain dog
