Today’s theme: A Touch of Magic! Be sure to check out the posts on Jodi Taylor and Shanna Swendson too!
I discovered this lovely author this year, and her Southern magical realism titles have suddenly become must-reads. Now I just have to wait for the next one….. (sends up long-suffering sigh while tapping toe impatiently….)
I loved MIDNIGHT AT THE BLACKBIRD CAFE but SOUTH OF THE BUTTONWOOD TREE was, well, simply magical. Both books have juicy elements—deep family secrets, female empowerment elements, mother/daughter issues, and lovely, potent messages of forgiveness, self-discovery, and the power of love and family.
And magic. Lovely, affirming, unique, creative magic.
Webber has done some exceptional magical world-building, and her magical elements are pitch perfect for the real-life issues the characters are dealing with.
These were two of my favorite reads this year, and I hope you’ll discover how magical they are too!
If you like Sarah Addison Allen, Ellen Herrick, Karen Hawkins’ Dove Pond or Barbara Davis’ Last of the Moon Girls (I love all of those books/writers), then these would be a great choice for you.
Beautifully written, delightfully creative and compelling, these books are sweet delights to add to your TBR.
(And if you love these titles from Heather Webber and aren’t familiar with any of the afore-mentioned authors, then be sure to check them out too!)
I’ll be checking out some of Webber’s other series – they look great!

SOUTH OF THE BUTTONWOOD TREE
USA Today bestselling author Heather Webber’s South of the Buttonwood Tree is a captivating blend of magical realism, heartwarming romance, and small-town Southern charm.
Blue Bishop has a knack for finding lost things. While growing up in charming small-town Buttonwood, Alabama, she’s happened across lost wallets, jewelry, pets, her wandering neighbor, and sometimes, trouble. No one is more surprised than Blue, however, when she comes across an abandoned newborn baby in the woods, just south of a very special buttonwood tree.
Sarah Grace Landreneau Fulton is at a crossroads. She has always tried so hard to do the right thing, but her own mother would disown her if she ever learned half of Sarah Grace’s secrets.
The unexpected discovery of the newborn baby girl will alter Blue’s and Sarah Grace’s lives forever. Both women must fight for what they truly want in life and for who they love. In doing so, they uncover long-held secrets that reveal exactly who they really are—and what they’re willing to sacrifice in the name of family.
Happy reading!
