Okay, so I’m slightly late to the Ilona Andrews fan club, mainly because she had so many books and series and it felt a little overwhelming to try to dive in and catch up.

Then she released the Hidden Legacy series and I jumped on board real quick! The first three books feature Mad Rogan and Nevada Baylor, whose relationship is sizzling sexy hot, and her family is a riot. Also, the Baylor sisters’ enigmatic magic, that they’ve kept hidden for over a generation, is an intriguing facet of the series’ plot arcs, creating tension for the characters and the complex, magical world they live in.

Read the books in order because they do build on each other.

Last year the author(s) – who, by the way, are a husband/wife writing team – released SAPPHIRE FLAMES, the first in a trilogy revolving around Nevada’s sister, Catalina. Book 2, EMERALD BLAZE, releases at the end of this month.

While Mad Rogan is a fascinating alpha hero, I have to say I’m completely intrigued by Alessandro, who can conjure practically any weapon out of thin air. It’s another trilogy full of Ilona Andrews’ legendary wit, humor, imagination and magnificent ability to write a rather fabulous explosion or fight scene!

These are of course must reads for paranormal romance fans, but if you’re simply an eclectic reader looking for a good action/adventure/magic read, then definitely pick this series up.

Really fun and high-octane reads, with seriously scorching sexual and romantic tension.

SAPPHIRE FLAME

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews comes an enthralling new trilogy set in the Hidden Legacy world, where magic means power, and family bloodlines are the new currency of society…

In a world where magic is the key to power and wealth, Catalina Baylor is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, and the Head of her House. Catalina has always been afraid to use her unique powers, but when her friend’s mother and sister are murdered, Catalina risks her reputation and safety to unravel the mystery.

But behind the scenes powerful forces are at work, and one of them is Alessandro Sagredo, the Italian Prime who was once Catalina’s teenage crush. Dangerous and unpredictable, Alessandro’s true motives are unclear, but he’s drawn to Catalina like a moth to a flame.

To help her friend, Catalina must test the limits of her extraordinary powers, but doing so may cost her both her House–and her heart.

Happy reading!

Lim’s writing is graceful and accomplished, allowing her to tell a layered, imaginative, entrancing tale with the lyricism and radiance it deserves.

Jenn McKinlay – Paris Books Are Always A Good Idea

August 30, 2020

This book was a great mix of deeper themes like extended grief and reclaiming one’s true self when life has become all work and no joy, held in tension with elements like reconnecting with old loves and finding them completely different than the hazy version of a decade ago.
