Lyssa Kay Adams – Delightful Bromance Romance

August 17, 2020 Leave a Comment

Today’s theme is second chances for husbands and wives. Be sure to read the posts on Tessa Bailey & Ruby Lang too!

It’s hard to imagine anyone in the romance world hasn’t heard of this delightful, clever series.

For the sake of the theme, I’ll spotlight the first title in the series, where a professional baseball player needs to fix his troubled marriage, and is invited into an all-male book club to get some guidance.

The hook is brilliant, but Adams really backs it up with a smart, engaging plot, appealing secondary characters—especially the club members—and a “book-within-a-book” romance novel which helps brace the story and spotlight the lessons Gavin needs to learn in order to mend his relationship with his wife.

There’s a lot of humor and entertainment, but also a great deal of heart and wisdom.

The buzz this series is garnering is so well-deserved. Book 2, BROMANCE UNDERCOVER, may have been slightly better than the first one, and I’m completely looking forward to Book 3 – CRAZY STUPID BROMANCE. (Check out that awesome cover!)

THE BROMANCE BOOK CLUB

The first rule of book club: You don’t talk about book club.

Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in major league trouble. He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife Thea has always faked the Big O. When he loses his cool at the revelation, it’s the final straw on their already strained relationship. Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realizes he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him.

Welcome to the Bromance Book Club.

Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s top alpha men. With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage. But it’ll take a lot more than flowery words and grand gestures for this hapless Romeo to find his inner hero and win back the trust of his wife.

Happy reading!

Roselle Lim – The Delights of Magic, Paris & Tea

August 30, 2020

Lim’s writing is graceful and accomplished, allowing her to tell a layered, imaginative, entrancing tale with the lyricism and radiance it deserves.

Jenn McKinlay – Paris Books Are Always A Good Idea

August 30, 2020

This book was a great mix of deeper themes like extended grief and reclaiming one’s true self when life has become all work and no joy, held in tension with elements like reconnecting with old loves and finding them completely different than the hazy version of a decade ago.

Albertalli/Saeed – Say Yes to Yes, No, Maybe So

August 29, 2020

Today’s theme is: Some Awesome YA! Be sure to check out the posts on Sandhya Menon & Stephanie Perkins too! YES, NO, MAYBE SO is a warm, funny, engaging story, but it deals with so many issues in ways that are inspiring and uplifting, even as it reflects realistic disappointments and setbacks, that it is […]
