I “met” Naima online a year or so ago after a few writer friends recommended her to me. I asked for a copy of one of her books (Scoring with the Wrong Twin) from her publisher and I loved it.
Then I heard about her Bachelor Auction series and really, bachelor auctions? Who can resist that?
I try not to depend too much on cover blurbs in my own reviews, but I’m going to put this one here:
He promised to stay away…but some promises are made to be broken.
Plain-Jane computer programmer Khloe Richardson needs a date–one to make the prince of her dreams jealous. Maybe then he’ll finally see her as a desirable swan and not the ugly duckling in the second office from the left.
But when she bids on a bachelor at a charity auction, the man she wins is millionaire Niall Hunter–who once made intense, passionate love to her and then left without a word.
She’s determined not to let her guard down again–among other things–around the infamous Irish lothario.
Niall never imagined his penance for one hot-as-hell night with his best friend’s little sister would be transforming her from a shy wallflower to a sultry siren. Helping her attract another man is torture…especially when he promised his friend he’d stay away. Plus, she wants forever, and he’s not a forever kind of guy. But Niall can’t stop wanting her. Can’t stop touching her. Can’t stop, period. And damn if he can remember why he has to…
So can you see why? I mean…
Listen to the gloriousness of that write-up! This book has everything! Bad boy best friend of her (ahem, now deceased) brother. A Plain Jane/Cinderella makeover. A nod to both enemies-to-lovers and second chance romance, since he abandoned her and she wants nothing to do with him….Truly, it hits all the best tropes.
He’s even a billionaire music magnate who really wants to be a musician. And he’s Irish! Don’t you almost feel yourself melting just thinking about this book?!
Simone is really great at, well, everything in a romance. The characters are conflicted, but obviously attracted to each other, though it takes Khloe a while to figure it out, especially since Niall is fighting it so hard.
There’s humor and sexy banter and sizzling tension that leads to smoking hot sex scenes, which makes things even more confusing for them.
Khloe tries to tell herself that she’s interested in her office crush, but once Niall’s on the scene and the guy expresses interest (and really, doesn’t that kind of make him a jerk to start with?)
Watching Niall and Khloe fight their attraction, dance around each other and then finally give into it, even as they both take strides to understand who they really are, and why the other one is really quite perfect for them, is fun and touching, and Simone has written a special story that pings all the notes. (There’s even a sweet little twist at the end that ties up any lingering angst about the late brother’s feelings.)
And for those of you all about the book boyfriends, be warned. Niall is kinda glorious and yummy!
Naima has a bunch of other books, too – many of which are under $5 on kindle. She writes for Harlequin Desire and had at least a couple of series with Entangled (a few of those titles are available in the *Audible Escape package.) I picked up a couple of her erotic romance shorts (only $.99), because I’m looking forward to seeing how such a consummately emotional writer navigates the extra sexy stuff!
