Tessa Bailey – Hot & Touching Romance

August 17, 2020 Leave a Comment

Today’s theme is second chances for husbands and wives. Be sure to read the posts on Lyssa Kay Adams & Ruby Lang too!

Do you like your romance beautifully written, completely entertaining but also scorching HOT? Then you probably want to give Tessa Bailey a try…

I just finished LOVE HER OR LEAVE HER, book 2 in her delightful and super-sexy Hot & Hammered series. (I really enjoyed book 1, FIX HER UP, too and am totally looking forward to #3, TOOLS OF ENGAGEMENT, which releases next month.)

These books are refreshingly unique, with friendships that act as glue when things are falling apart and secondary characters that add authenticity and some entertainment value to a wonderful story that already balances humor, poignancy and sizzling sex scenes.

In LOVE HER OR LEAVE HER, Rosie and Dominic are still magnetized to each other, though Dom has pretty much neglected Rosie’s emotional needs, convincing himself that their incendiary sex life is enough.

He’s also keeping a big secret from her, which was supposed to be an awesome surprise, but has turned into a problem now that she’s working toward opening her own restaurant.

As they try to save their marriage with counseling and assigned experiences, they remember what they loved about each other in the first place, but also take responsibility for the mistakes they both made.

Tessa Bailey can always be depended on for a great read, but this one was a bit different — given that the main characters start out married but wounded, and have to find their way back to each other. As usual, a great read from this awesome author.

LOVE HER OR LEAVE HER

New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey returns with a unique, sexy romantic comedy about a young married couple whose rocky relationship needs a serious renovation…

Rosie and Dominic Vega are the perfect couple: high school sweethearts, best friends, madly in love. Well, they used to be anyway. Now Rosie’s lucky to get a caveman grunt from the ex-soldier every time she walks in the door. Dom is faithful and a great provider, but the man she fell in love with ten years ago is nowhere to be found. When her girlfriends encourage Rosie to demand more out of life and pursue her dream of opening a restaurant, she decides to demand more out of love, too. Three words: marriage boot camp.

Never in a million years did Rosie believe her stoic, too-manly-to-emote husband would actually agree to relationship rehab with a weed-smoking hippie. Dom talking about feelings? Sitting on pillows? Communing with nature? Learning love languages? Nope. But to her surprise, he’s all in, and it forces her to admit her own role in their cracked foundation. As they complete one ridiculous—yet surprisingly helpful—assignment after another, their remodeled relationship gets stronger than ever. Except just as they’re getting back on track, Rosie discovers Dom has a secret… and it could demolish everything.

Happy reading!

Roselle Lim – The Delights of Magic, Paris & Tea

August 30, 2020

Lim’s writing is graceful and accomplished, allowing her to tell a layered, imaginative, entrancing tale with the lyricism and radiance it deserves.

Jenn McKinlay – Paris Books Are Always A Good Idea

August 30, 2020

This book was a great mix of deeper themes like extended grief and reclaiming one’s true self when life has become all work and no joy, held in tension with elements like reconnecting with old loves and finding them completely different than the hazy version of a decade ago.

Albertalli/Saeed – Say Yes to Yes, No, Maybe So

August 29, 2020

Today’s theme is: Some Awesome YA! Be sure to check out the posts on Sandhya Menon & Stephanie Perkins too! YES, NO, MAYBE SO is a warm, funny, engaging story, but it deals with so many issues in ways that are inspiring and uplifting, even as it reflects realistic disappointments and setbacks, that it is […]
