About Read-A-Romance Month 2019

Hi everyone! Welcome to Read-A-Romance Month 2019!

🙂📚💜☀️🌈

The theme this year is The Romance Of Reading, The Magic Of Books and I’m so excited to hear what this great calendar of authors has to share on books, reading, romance & magic. I hope you’ll visit everyday.

We have a nice mix of romance authors and women’s fiction authors – because romance, to me, is about the love story in a book, whether or not the book is a romance novel.

Because the theme is The Romance Of Reading, The Magic Of Books, we have a bunch of authors whose books include magical elements – some of my favorite kinds of books!

Be sure to check out the 2019 RARM author calendar to see who’ll be visiting us each day in August.

Also, the first author in the list each day will be guest hosting on the sister Facebook page, The Romance of Reading. I hope you’ll stop in and visit with them there too.

The 3rd piece of RARM this year is an ongoing project I’m doing, #100DaysOfGreatBooks, which I started in May.

For me and in the publishing industry, romance novels are specific things. However, some of my favorite books have huge romantic elements, but are considered romantic fiction, not romance novels. My main platform message is – always is – anyone, but especially women, should be able to read whatever the heck they want to, without being shamed by anyone.

Especially other women!

We have a bunch of romance novelists taking part this year, and a few authors who write women’s fiction with high romantic elements. I’m an extremely eclectic reader, and most people I know who read romance are pretty eclectic too.

I started RARM and continue it because I believe in the power of books, the uplifting elements that come from stories with a happy ending, and the hope inherent in them.

Yes, I think books are magic, and romance, in particular, can be life-changing. Whether they’re romance, romantic fiction or comic books, if the love story is uplifting and hopeful, then they can be powerful agents of change.

I hope you enjoy RARM. I hope you love the books and authors I’m introducing you to here and on The Romance Of Reading FB page, where one of the RARM authors will be hosting the page each day in August, and where most of my energy and activity goes on the rest of the year

Enjoy….

Recent Notes

Roselle Lim – The Delights of Magic, Paris & Tea

August 30, 2020

Lim’s writing is graceful and accomplished, allowing her to tell a layered, imaginative, entrancing tale with the lyricism and radiance it deserves.

Jenn McKinlay – Paris Books Are Always A Good Idea

August 30, 2020

This book was a great mix of deeper themes like extended grief and reclaiming one’s true self when life has become all work and no joy, held in tension with elements like reconnecting with old loves and finding them completely different than the hazy version of a decade ago.

Albertalli/Saeed – Say Yes to Yes, No, Maybe So

August 29, 2020

Today’s theme is: Some Awesome YA! Be sure to check out the posts on Sandhya Menon & Stephanie Perkins too! YES, NO, MAYBE SO is a warm, funny, engaging story, but it deals with so many issues in ways that are inspiring and uplifting, even as it reflects realistic disappointments and setbacks, that it is […]
