Today’s theme – It’s love at first sight, but it’s complicated! Be sure to check out the posts on Tracey Livesay & Meryl Wisner too!
I really enjoyed NOT THAT KIND OF GUY (and last year’s NOT THE GIRL YOU MARRY) by Andie J. Christopher.
The main female character in NTKoG is the sister of the male lead in NTGYM, and they’re both very fun, very sexy books.
In NTKoG, Christopher pulls off both a fake relationship (it really reminded me of The Proposal) and a marriage of convenience, because one leads to the other and then the misunderstandings really start!
There are a few times when the conflict moment feels a little too much, but it’s the kind of angst and internal confusion I really enjoy, though I can imagine some people might find it kind of annoying. However, for me, it was a delicious read.
Christopher is an author to watch, and these two books are terrific. You don’t have to read them in order, but if you’re really tied to chronological consistency you’ll want to. (It’s also nice to check in with Hannah and Jack from NOT THE GIRL YOU MARRY.)
Oh and as for the theme: It’s love at first sight, but it’s complicated!! He starts out as her intern, and he falls in love with her at first sight, and (obviously) can’t let her know. Then as soon as his stint is over, things get really complicated!
NOT THAT KIND OF GUY
An office attraction becomes something more when they’re off the clock in this delightful romantic comedy by the USA Today bestselling author of Not the Girl You Marry.
State attorney Bridget Nolan is successful in all aspects of her life—except romance. After breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, she’s been slow to reenter the dating scene. To be honest, she has more important things to do like putting bad guys behind bars. But with her brother’s wedding right around the corner, she suddenly needs a date and fast. Lucky for Bridget, the legal intern is almost done with his program.
Matt Kido is dumbstruck by Bridget—total love at first sight—but there’s one problem. She’s totally off-limits while she’s his boss. But the moment he no longer reports to her, Matt decides to take a chance. An impulsive decision takes them to Las Vegas where, as the saying goes, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Unless you put a ring on it.
